History of Hooks BBQ

      Hooks BBQ was founded in 1979 by Don & Sally Stone. They began out of an old grocery store off of 331S in Opp, Alabama. Don made a pit behind the store and Hooks BBQ started as a Carry-Out only BBQ haven. A few years later after the property was bought out from underneath them, they moved close by to an all cinderblock building to the appreciation of their customers.

      In April of 2002, Andy Little and Shayne Lord purchased the property and all original recipes for Hooks BBQ from Don & Sally. One year later, a second Hooks BBQ location was born in Andalusia, Alabama. Since then, three other Hooks franchised locations have sprung up in Troy, Dothan, and Rutledge, Alabama spreading great BBQ all over the state.

      Hooks BBQ still uses the original recipes and philosophy of its founders. All BBQ and ingredients are created fresh everyday. Shayne Lord says, “We keep everything fresh and simple. We want anyone who visits Hooks to feel comfortable and welcome as if they were at their own home. We serve great food in a relaxed atmosphere and I think all of our customers would agree with our slogan, ‘We have the best Butts in town.’”
